The chances are dim. Prepare well and give CMAT next year. Meanwhile build your profile through work experience, extra curriculars etc.

PGDM does not have more or less value than MBA but MBA/MMS is a better degree to go for if one is planning to get into academics.

Yes, 2 years work experience is must. It is in very exceptional cases that they consider someone with less than 2 years of work experience. The average work ex of an incoming class is about 5 years.

Some IIMs like IIM - Indore allocates need based scholarships.

The SC/ST students are well supported by the colleges through scholarships. They also find support through the alumni network.

Several banks offer loans to IIM selected students on no guarantee which have to be paid only after finishing the course.

Many PSUs like ONGC,OIL,NTPC etc provides scholarship for SC/STs.

Some Private players like Aditya Birla Group also offer scholarships to meritorious SC/STs.

The Govt. of India also offers scholarships for the higher education of SC/ST students.

So getting funding won't be anywhere as tough as getting into an IIM!!

Best way to prepare for GD is to have group discussions every other day prior to your final GD. Make groups with friends, Civil services aspirants, other MBA aspirants etc. Discuss burning topics with random strangers on bus/train journeys.

For PI, talk to yourself in the mirror. Note your body language, observe your tone of voice. Keep your body movements relaxed.

I agree with short answer but to help you, let me give a long answer

A - Education is a long term investment and JBIMS is quite good college and give good exposure and might be very good if you are looking for Consulting / FMCG or Corporate banking ( sales) job however IIMs brand is very strong and give you leeway in long term in much better manner.

So if you are looking for hard core fin, then probably IIMs ( again which IIM) are better choice. Now a very non MBA thing is that is life in a hostel. Hostel life has its own prespective and open up new vista in life and quite fun which you might miss living in home though night life must be much better in Mumbai than any IIM campus but hostel life has its own charm and challenges

so think about it
